Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a popular figure in India. The 42-year-old retired from top-flight cricket four years ago. Even though he isn’t playing for India, MSD is still leading his side CSK to title wins.
Chennai Super Kings won their fifth IPL title this year by beating Gujarat Titans in the finals in 2023. It was widely believed that Dhoni would wind up his playing career after the IPL 2023 season.
Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, the Chennai Super Kings legendary skipper sent the fans into a tizzy. The 42-year-old has given a massive update while he was speaking on stage during an event.
MS Dhoni’s decision about IPL 2024 goes public –
Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni was in Bengaluru recently attending an event. The question turned to his cricketing future and his likely participation in IPL 2024. The interviewer asked MSD “Now that you have retired from international cricket”.
The Indian legend looked to the person who was sitting with him, who corrected the host. MSD’s companion replied that the 42-year-old had retired from India duties, not the IPL. Dhoni for his part replied in affirmative which sent the crowd into raptures. Once the crowd started making more noise MSD acknowledged them as being Chennai supporters.

The topic invariably moved to the knee surgery that took place recently. MS Dhoni said “Knee has survived the operation, going through the rehab patch, the doctor told me you would feel much better by November. But no problem in day-to-day routine,"
Despite achieving everything in the game, MS Dhoni is known to be grounded and pretty friendly with all. This was the next topic of conversation as the 42-year-old was his grounded self while replying.
Dhoni said “You know, right from the start, I was not into that people should remember me as a good cricketer. I always said, you know, I want to be remembered as a good human being. You know, and if you want to be a good human being, it's a process till you die,"
The IPL 2024 auction is around the corner and there are some huge players who will be up for grabs. Chennai Super Kings are known to stick with the same team and one anticipates it would be the same for 2024. Ben Stokes is a huge question mark considering the English player is set to go under the knife himself. Dubai has been pencilled in as the likely destination for the IPL 2024 auctions to take place.
