Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah has created a huge fan base for himself ever since his debut. The young seamer is out of cricketing action due to an injury he suffered against India during the 2023 Asia Cup tournament.

The young pacer made his T20I debut versus India during the 2022 Asia Cup game. On that day, India had won the game by 5 wickets in a thrilling encounter. The pacer impressed everyone during the T20 World Cup game in Melbourne a few months later.

Virat Kohli was one of the players that Naseem Shah encountered during his debut game. The Pakistani bowler was in full praise for the former India skipper during his recent chat on the sidelines of the PSL 2024 campaign.

Naseem Shah praises Virat Kohli

Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah was in full praise for former India skipper Virat Kohli. The right-arm pacer was asked about his T20I debut which took place against India. Naseem Shah played his first game for the men in green during the Asia Cup 2022 game in UAE.

“I cherish the memories of my T20I debut versus India. The India-Pakistan match holds great significance due to the enthusiastic crowds and the intense atmosphere on the field, and the match marked my debut. I felt a bit nervous being my first game,” he said.

Remembering his encounter with Virat Kohli, this is what Naseem Shah said, “When Virat Kohli stepped up to bat, I expected him to play aggressively. I pitched an in-swinger in the hope of catching his pad, but he chose to let it go. On the next delivery, I opted for an out-swinger and managed to catch the edge, but unfortunately, the catch was dropped.”

Virat Kohli is taking some time away from cricket due to some persona l issues. The former India skipper had initially skipped the first two Tests, before pulling out of the entire England series.

It isn’t clear when Virat Kohli will be back as he is yet to get in touch with the Indian Cricket Board. Jay Shah had recently said that Kohli will be given their board’s complete support before coming back to cricket.
