Chennai is having a tough time, the entire city is flooded after heavy rainfall over the last two days. This has thrown life into disarray for the people of the city and the state of Tamil Nadu as a whole. All schools, colleges, educational institutions, and government offices, including those of public undertakings/corporations, boards, banks, and financial institutions in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts, will be closed on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, due to Cyclonic Storm 'Michaung,' according to a government notification issued by the Chief Secretary.
The city of Chennai has been in disarray for the past few days as heavy rains have disrupted life. Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Matheesha Pathirana showed their humanity by tweeting while praying for the city. The rain in Chennai is predicted to continue for the next 24 hours. Several portions of the city have flooded, prompting authorities to close schools, cancel flights, and evacuate residents from waterlogged areas.
All necessary services, such as the Police, Fire Service, Local Bodies, milk supply, water supply, hospitals/medical shops, electricity supply, transportation, fuel outlets, hotels/restaurants, and offices engaged in disaster response, relief, and rescue activities, will continue to operate normally.
Hang tight for another day everyone: Ravichandran Ashwin
Dinesh Karthik wrote "Chennai folks please prioritize your safety and stay indoors. It’s crucial during times like this. A big salute to all the officials working tirelessly to improve the situation. Let’s all cooperate and get through this together."
Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin posted a rather seriously worded tweet which read "Looks grim! With all the hours of predicted rain. Hang tight for another day everyone. Even if the rain stops, recovery is going to take a while."
Sri Lanka and Chennai Super Kings spinner Maheesh Theekshana has also expressed his concern over the situation in Chennai, "Just watched some concerning footage from my second home, Chennai. Sending all my love and prayers to everyone affected. Stay strong, stay safe. We're in this together." Matheesha Pathirana also stated, "Stay safe, my Chennai! The storm may be fierce, but our resilience is stronger. Better days are just around the corner. Take care, stay indoors, and look out for one another."
