Ravichandran Ashwin responds to fake news on CSK approaching Sanju Samson for leadership

Following the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023, the cricketing world's attention has shifted to the IPL trading window. This transition has also given rise to a proliferation of fake news and rumors regarding player transfers and trades in anticipation of the Indian Premier League auction scheduled for December 19 in Dubai.

 One such piece of news circulating on social media suggests that CSK has made an approach to RR captain Sanju Samson, considering him as their potential future skipper. A fan shared this information from an undisclosed account ('X') and attributed Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube channel as the source of the news.

“Ashwin on his YouTube channel – Sanju Samson was approached by CSK as a captain which was nearly finalised. But it didn’t go through Sanju rejected their offer. There’s a definite possibility in future,” tweeted a fan.

However, Ashwin responded to the tweet and said “Fake news! Don’t lie quoting me.”

Ashwin's response to the fan spreading false news is gaining widespread attention on social media. The seasoned spinner is known for expressing his strong opinions on the cricketing world and news through his YouTube channel. This is not the first instance where people have exploited the credibility of Ashwin's channel to circulate fake rumors. As the player retention window for the Indian Premier League 2024 season came to a close on Sunday, the 10 franchises collectively retained 173 players. MS Dhoni is set to resume the role of CSK captain once again. There are significant chances that this might be the legendary player's last season.

According to Ravichandran Ashwin, there is a belief that Shahrukh Khan will spark a bidding war between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 mini-auction. Shahrukh Khan, who was released by Punjab Kings after scoring 156 runs in 14 matches, boasts a strike rate of 166 and also contributes with off-spin bowling.

With Hardik Pandya's departure from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians, GT is in search of a finisher, and Shahrukh Khan's explosive performances in the lower order could make him an ideal replacement. This could lead to intense competition for Shahrukh Khan's services in the auction.
