Cricket fans are getting ready for a Boxing Day cracker as India and South Africa will lock horns in a thrilling two-Test series starting December 26th. Fresh off a nail-biting T20 series that ended in a draw and a pulsating ODI series where the Proteas emerged victorious, these cricketing giants are set to battle it out in the longest format of the game.

The Test series is the crown jewel of this South African tour - the Test series. This isn't just any clash; it's a battle steeped in Test cricket's rich tapestry. India, dominant in recent years, faces its ultimate challenge - conquering the Proteas in their den. A Test series victory here remains elusive for the Men in Blue, making it the final frontier to be breached in the traditional format.

"It makes the series even bigger"

South-African head-coach, Shukri Conrad has acknowledged that the Proteas are aware of this fact. He said that the fact that India haven't won a series so far raises the stakes for both the teams and makes it even more exciting for fans and viewers. "I would be lying if I say we have not taken cognizance of that. We know what history tells us. If it was ever possible to make the series ever bigger then that makes it even bigger that India have never won a Test series here," he said.

He admitted that the hosts are desperate to ensure that the hosts leave the country well short of their goal. "We certainly want to hold that proud record and make sure it doesn't happen."

He added that Temba Bavuma and Co. will put their best foot format to ensure that they hold on to their 'proud' record. "India is the biggest series that we are going to play this year. It has been dubbed as the final frontier back in India and we are going to do our best to make sure that they don't conquer the final frontier."
