Australia has already wrapped up the series with 2 successive wins against New Zealand. The final T20I is set to be played on Sunday and it is set to be used as a tool to prepare for the T20I World Cup in June.

Ahead of the game there is massive news coming that David Warner will not be part of the game. The veteran Australian batter has got himself injured in what would have been his final bilateral game for his side.

David Warner will next be seen playing in the IPL 2024 season for the Delhi Capitals side. This new injury has created doubts whether he will be fit in time for the new season which begins on 22nd March.

David Warner’s IPL participation in doubt?

Australian cricket fans were rocked when it came to light that David Warner has been ruled out of the final T20I vs New Zealand. The 37-year-old is suffering from sore abductor muscle which has warranted a rest.

Cricket Australia put out a statement which read “Warner will require a brief recovery period which is not expected to affect his availability for the upcoming IPL leading into the T20I World Cup”

David Warner has already retired from Test Cricket and ODI cricket earlier this year. The Sydney Test against Pakistan was his final game in the longest format of the game. Warner played his final ODI game versus India during the 2023 ODI World Cup Finals in November.

The 37-year-old has also announced that the 2024 T20 World Cup will be his final game for Australia in the T20I format. Australia has seen David Warner in good form in the shortest format of the game.

In the four T20I games Warner has scored 205 runs with two half-centuries. Delhi Capitals fans will be overjoyed with Warner being  available for the entire season. Rishabh Pant is expected to be back for the season as the captain and batter. Delhi Capitals have confirmed that Pant will not be the wicketkeeper in a bid to preserve his fitness.
