Team India has announced their squad for the upcoming 5-match T20I series against Australia. Suryakumar will be leading the Indian team for the first time. He has done it during the IPL 2023 season. The No. 1 T20I batter handled the captaincy in the absence of Rohit Sharma and captained his domestic team as well. He, along with Ishan Kishan, was in the World Cup squad that lost the final.
Yuzvendra Chahal has been in and out of the squad for a long period. He did not get the chance in the 15-man squad for the mega event as well. Though he was a member of the T20 2022 World Cup squad, but did not play a game. After he was not picked for the T20I series, he posted a cryptic post, with just a single smiley emoticon on his social media handle.
Chahal was a key member of the side in many tournaments previously. He has been a match-winner for the side as the leg-spinner has taken 96 wickets at an average of 25.09 in 80 T20Is.

In a recent interview, speaking about his ODI World Cup omission, "I understand that only fifteen players can be a part because it's a World Cup, where you can't take 17 or 18. I do feel a little bad, but my motto in life is to move on. I'm used to it now, it's been three World Cups (laughs). That's why I came here [at Kent] to play because I want to play cricket somewhere, somehow."
India has played some sensational games of cricket in the ODI World Cup. Rohit Sharma's side 10 matches in a row eventually losing in the final.
