'Swimket' video goes viral

India is a place where Cricket has been worshipped as a religion, the sport has gained immense popularity over the years. Whether it's fans going to a great extent to meet their favourite players or the Indian team's key players receiving VIP treatment, such events are common in this cricket-crazy country. However, a recent video circulating on social media goes beyond the cricket-crazy borders, showing players partaking in what is now being termed to as 'Swimket,' all while immersed in water.

In a world where sports fans are continuously looking for new thrills, a thrilling game has emerged on the internet with a unique spin on a traditional sport. This hybrid sport, dubbed'swimket', is a fascinating combination of swimming and cricket. The video shows a bunch of young boys playing cricket, and what makes it unique is the strange environment.

Instead of a traditional cricket pitch, they play in a water body beneath what appears to be a bridge in the video, with the water level approaching their knees. The water's surface acts as a makeshift pitch. The video has got over 50k views and millions of reactions. People found this game of cricket with a twist quite interesting.

Here's the video

What is 'Swimket'?

In the 'Swimket' scenario, participants are immersed in waist-deep water, demonstrating their athleticism while they execute traditional cricket shots and perform fielding movements. When the batsman strikes the ball, it skims across the water's surface, leading a fielder to leap and dive, causing a splash in an attempt to grab.

The fact that they are playing cricket in water, as well as improvising their own Decision Review System (DRS), lends a funny element to the real-time experience. Shared by a Twitter user named @Madan_Chikna, the video has sparked a conversation among people. “We should add this Cricket + Swimming sport in the Olympics calling it Swimket. This is brilliant." The new twist on the game of cricket has excited the curiosity of viewers, making it a source of conversation and entertainment for the public.
