Rahul’s presence would be very important for the Indian team in the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023. As both the major events will be held in the Asian conditions which are mostly batting-friendly. Rahul’s ability to play against the spinners can play a crucial role for the team in both major events.

Will Ishan Kishan replace KL Rahul as wicketkeeper-batter?

Rahul has been brilliant in the ODI format for India over the past few years but his injury concerns have kept him away from action. It’d be interesting to see if he will be able to carry his past form in the white ball format or not. Rahul’s absence helped Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson to get some opportunity to show their talent in the middle-order.

Talking about wicketkeeping, young left-hander Ishan Kishan delivered a brilliant performance and utilised every opportunity he was given in the ODI format. Kishan recently played as an opener in the ODI series against West Indies. He smashed 3 consecutive half-centuries and impressed a lot of fans and cricket experts as well.

Another wicketkeeper-batter, Samson also played a decent knock on the 3rd ODI where he scored 51 runs, however, he didn’t play as a wicketkeeper as Kishan continued to play as wicketkeeper. Samson, however, served as an outfielder in the lost 2 matches against West Indies.
