The Ashes 2023 series kicked off with a thrilling contest between Australia and England at Edgbaston in Birmingham where the Australian clinched a nail-biting victory by just 2 wickets. The action will move towards the Lord’s as the 2nd Test is set to be played there, starting on June 28.

Meanwhile, England’s veteran Test pacer Stuart Broad recently shared his views on the dramatic incident between Ollie Robinson and Usman Khawaja during the 1st Test. Robinson said some curse words to Khawaja after dismissing him in the first innings but got criticised by some former Australian cricketers for his behaviour.

“A lot more has been made of words on the field between Ollie Robinson and Usman Khawaja than ought to have been, to be honest. Ultimately, the apex cricket body had no problem with Ollie’s reaction to dismissing Khawaja in the first innings and I didn’t like Matthew Hayden’s disparaging comments about him.” Broad was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Broad further added and talked about Robinson’s figures in Test cricket and compared him with the former legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath. Broad said that rivalry only remains on the field but soon as they go back to the dressing room, it goes normally as they even have lunch together. However, it’d be interesting to see how will the players face each other in the remaining 4 Tests of the iconic Test series.

"Ollie averages 21 with the ball in Test cricket over a decent amount of time and bowls in a very similar way to Glenn McGrath. Yes, there was a bit of emotion on the field, but off it we are obviously seeing the Australian guys in the pavilion corridors all the time, eating lunch in the same room and we enjoyed a nice-natured week. Now a couple of expletives the other way and everyone is piling in. Where are we going with this?” he concluded.
