India will play three-match T20I series in Ireland next month. As expected, some players are set to be rested for the series. Currently, the team is in the Caribbean Islands for an all-format series. They are currently playing the two-match series, which will be followed by three ODIs and five T20Is. In the T20I series, Hardik Pandya will lead the side.
After the series in Northern America, the Men In Blue will head to Ireland for a three-match T20I series. As per fresh reports, Pandya and opening batter, Shubman Gill will be rested for the series. The latter has been playing in the ongoing series and will play till the T20I series. Keeping the workload in mind and given their participation in the Men's Asia Cup and ODI World Cup later this year, both players will be rested.
"Nothing is finalised yet and it will also depend on how Hardik is feeling after the one-dayers and T20s in the West Indies. There is travelling involved and only a short turnaround of three days before one flies from Florida to Dublin. With the World Cup being of primary importance, one has to factor in his workload. Let's not forget he will be Rohit's deputy in the World Cup," an Indian Cricket Board source told PTI.
Hardik Pandya hardly played cricket since IPL 2023
Notably, the Gujarat Titans skipper in the IPL hasn't played any cricket since IPL 2023. His team lost the last-ball thriller final against Chennai Super Kings. The all-rounder is yet to play a Test match after India's tour of England in 2018. Also, hiM playing only ODI and T20Is in the ongoing West Indies tour has made fans ask questions about the need for him to rest after playing only a limited number of games after the IPL 2023 final.
