In the seventh game of the ongoing Major League Cricket 2023, MI New York and Texas Super Kings locked horns. The subsidiary of the IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings respectively played each other for the first time. Meanwhile, as the tradition of the tournament, the teams batting first won the games. Keeping this in mind, TSK won the toss and elected to bat first.

They had a poor start as they lost their skipper Faf du Plessis (8) to his former South Africa teammate, Kagiso Rabada. Cody Chetty (12) struggled with the bat as he took 18 balls to score those runs. On the other hand, Devon Conway was given a lifeline when he was batting on 10. He went on to score 74 off 55 balls including eight fours and a six.

On the other hand, Mitchell Santner (27* off 13) did what David Miller (17 off 15) couldn't do. In the end, despite losing wickets, the team reached 154/7 at the end of the innings. The likes of Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada took two wickets each while Kieron Pollard and Rashid Khan took one each.

MI New York failed to chase down

The Blue Brigade had a poor start as they lost the wicket of Monank Patel to Rusty Theron in the second over. The likes of Steven Taylor (15 off 20) and Shahan Jahangir (41 off 38) kept struggling with the bat. The former became the first wicket of former Pakistan U19 player, Zia-ul Haq. He will play for the US in the future if he gets selected.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran (19) started well and even Jahangir started to get some momentum going the former got run out. It was a lapse of judgment from both players as there was never a double there. Mohammad Mohsin, who took four wickets against LA Knight Riders, took back-to-back wickets of Jahangir and Pollard in the 14th over. Despite the efforts of Tim David and Rashid Khan, the team lost the game by 17 runs.
