Indian cricket Team chief selector Chetan Sharma resigned from his post following a controversial sting operation on him. Chetan made several revelations related to the Indian team and players in the sting operation conducted by Zee News. Sharma has now sent his resignation to the Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah and the latter has accepted that.

He was elected as the chairman of the selection committee of the Indian team for the second time on January 7, 2023. However, after about a month, he had to resign from his post. He became the chief selector of the Indian Cricket Team twice, but could not complete his tenure on both occasions.

He made serious revelations in a TV channel sting operation on a lot of matters ranging from Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly's relationship to players taking injections. Chetan Sharma said that the Indian players take injections when they are only 80 percent fit to play the game. These are not painkillers. These injections contain drugs that are not detected in dope tests. All these players taking injections for fake fitness have doctors outside as well.

Virat Kohli gave a statement to defame Ganguly: Chetan Sharma

He also revealed the real reason behind the disagreement between Ganguly and former India captain Virat Kohli. The 34-year-old took the decision to step down as T20I captain in September 2021 after the 20-20 World Cup in Dubai.

Later, it was reported that the Indian Cricket Board stripped him of ODI captaincy in December 2021 and named Rohit Sharma as the white-ball captain. He said that he felt that there was an ego clash between Ganguly and Kohli.

“Virat Kohli felt he lost the captaincy because of the Indian Cricket Board President. There were nine people in the selection committee video conference, Ganguly told him ‘think about it once’. I think Kohli didn’t hear it, there were nine others there including myself and all other selectors, board’s officials,” Sharma was heard saying in the video by ZeeNews.

“Two egos clashing, one who is thinking that Ganguly has removed me from the captaincy, so I will teach him a lesson. He (Virat) gave a statement that Ganguly is doing this, basically to defame him. He (Virat) tried to tell this in the media… which backfired on him (Virat),” Chetan said.
