Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 wickets in the final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. CSK team won the IPL title for the fifth time and have also equalled Mumbai Indians’ record of winning the title 5 times. CSK needed 4 runs to win off the last ball on which Ravindra Jadeja hit a four and the entire team started doing celebration.

Many fans were thinking that this would be MS Dhoni’s last season but they were given a surprise after the match when Dhoni revealed he is not retiring and might come again for another season. Meanwhile, former legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram expressed his happiness for Dhoni winning the title 5 times.

"I'm so happy for MS Dhoni that he won his 5th IPL trophy. He deserves everything". Akram said to Sportskeeda.

In the post-match presentation ceremony after the final game, Dhoni had a long chat with Harsha Bhogle where he announced that he will keep himself fit for another season. However, he is likely to undergo knee surgery in Mumbai which he injured during the tournament. Here’s what he said about his plans for the next season.

“This is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love and affection I have been shown wherever I have been this year, the easy thing would be for me to say "Thank you very much", but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another 9 months and come back and play at least 1 more season of IPL. 

A lot depends on the body, I have 6-7 months to decide. It will be more like a gift from my side, it's not easy for me but that's a gift. The way they've shown their love and affection, I think that's something I need to do for them. You do get emotional simply because it's the last part of my career, it started over here and the first game when I walked down everyone was chanting my name. My eyes were full of water and I just stood there in the dugout for a while.” Dhoni was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
