India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has not been part of India's Asia Cup squad that was announced on Monday, August 21. He used Twitter, to express his emotions after the Asia Cup snub. India's spin department will be a little weak as they have picked only three spinners with two of them being bowling all-rounders Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

Chahal posted only a couple of emojis to let his feelings known to the cricket community. The Men in Blue captain Rohit Sharma stated that he couldnโ€™t have missed out on the pace bowling option to pick Chahal or Ravichandran Ashwin. The 32-year-old dropped two emoticons- first, of the sun behind the clouds and a rising sun, indicating that the sun will rise again.

Will Chahal make it to the World Cup squad?

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spinner has been one of the most consistent bowler for team India in ODIs with 37 wickets in 23 ODIs since the end of the 2019 World Cup. But in recent times he has been snubbed off behind Kuldeep Yadav in the pecking order with the left-arm wrist-spinner showcasing better control and ability to strike in the middle-overs.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar explained why Yuzvendra Chahal's was not included in the squad, saying it was tough for the selectors to pick two wrist-spinners in the squad. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma backed Agarkar's take on Chahal's non-selection. While he also added that the door is not closed for the leg-spinner in the lead-up to the World Cup.

"We want somebody who can bat at that spot. Axar being Axar, he had a good run this year, and batted well in white-ball cricket, especially," Rohit said. "Having said that, No door is not closed for anyone at this point in time. Anyone can come in at any time. Chahal has played a lot of white-ball cricket, if we feel like we need him for the World Cup, we can try and see how we can squeeze him. So is the case with Ashwin and Washi. The option is open to everyone."
