Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has been outspoken in his appreciation of midfielder Scott McTominay and his talent to score goals. Scotland international McTominay scored twice in his country's decisive 2-0 victory over Spain in the middle of the week. Although he typically plays in a box-to-box central midfield position, his goal-scoring record is respectable.

Ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has acknowledged that his player can play a more advanced position. According to Ten Hag: “Scott can play in many roles, it’s clear he has scoring capabilities for Scotland but also this season for us he’s a really good finisher." Despite that evident skill, he also went on to say “I see him as a midfielder so I think I’m happy with what Wout is doing. Because when Wout is in the team the team is performing better.”

Along with leading scorer Marcus Rashford, ten Hag named McTominay as one of several other Man United players who can score goals for his team. “I think we have players like Bruno , like Jadon Sancho, like Anthony Martial, like Scott McTominay, like Antony dos Santos, we have enough players with the capabilities to score goals, definitely,” he added.

"What I said previously, I work in the back on next season but we're working now on this season, so first of all make sure everyone is available and keep improving the way of play and that's the best chance of scoring more goals."

The United manager's remarks come at a crucial time in the season as the Red Devils try to build on their impressive League Cup victory with a strong Premier League finish and possibly an FA Cup victory as well – they have a challenging match against Brighton & Hove Albion in the competition's semifinals.
McTominay has made 32 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions this season and scored twice, but he has only made seven Premier League starts and is yet to score.
