Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag believes that the legendary ex-Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq was Asia’s greatest middle-order batter. Interestingly, Sehwag played most of his matches in the presence of the former legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who is popularly known as the ‘God of Cricket’. During a show, Sehwag recalled how the former Pakistan skipper used to bat boldly during the start of the 2000s.

Sehwag recently appeared in renowned host Gaurav Kapport’s show ‘Breakfast with Champions’ on his YouTube Channel and on one of the rarest of occasions, Sehwag chose Inzamam ul Haq, a former Pakistani captain, as Asia's top middle-order batsman instead of Tendulkar. According to Sehwag, Tendulkar is not considered because he is above the league of batters.

"Everyone talks about Sachin Tendulkar but Inzamam-Ul-Haq is Asia's biggest middle-order batsman. See Tendulkar was above the league of batsmen. So he doesn't count. But when it comes to the most superior-middle order batsman across India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, I have never seen anyone better than him (Inzi)," Sehwag was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Inzamam used to talk about scoring 8 an over: Virender Sehwag

In Pakistani cricket history, Inzamam is counted as the best captain as well as a great batter of all time. In the year 1992, when Pakistan won the ODI World Cup for the first time, Inzamam played a very important role with the bat. Inzamam scored a total of 8830 runs in his Test career playing 120 matches. At the same time, he has 11,739 runs in 378 ODIs.

Inzamam has 25 centuries in Tests while 10 in ODIs. Despite being one of the greatest Pakistani batters, Inzamam often used to get trolled because of his fitness as he was not that quick while running between the wickets. Sehwag recalled how confident Inzamaz used to be to score runs.

"In that era - 2003-04 - he used to talk about scoring 8 an over. He would tell his partner, 'Don't worry. You'll score easily'. Means 80 runs in 10 overs. Other teams would panic but he was always too confident," he added.
