FIFA World Cup 2022: Round of 16- 'Unplayable' Kylian Mbappe spearheads France's 3-1 win against Poland, Olivier Giroud becomes France's all time top scorer

Kylian Mbappe ran the show against Poland and helped France come up with a 3-1. As a result of it, they progress to the next round.

France won the 2018 FIFA World Cup and with a win against Poland in the Round of 16, they look properly placed to defend their title. Lets look at how the game panned out.

France vs Poland (3-1)

Against Tunisia, the France teams had come with 9 changes and eventually lost as a result of their overconfidence. Didier Deschamps however corrected his mistake in the Round of 16 match as he brought his most talented players into the starting lineup.

The Les Blues opened the scoring with an Olivier Giroud goal in the 44th minute. This goal also took the former Chelsea player to the top of the French scoring charts. With 52 goals he has now gone past Thiery Henry as the highest scorer for France.

Another player who could get among the prior mentioned players, Kylian Mbappe also laid his claim to France's success with a sensational strike in the 74th minute. France were flying at this point and their superiority was stamped by Mbappe who scored another curler in the 90+1 minute to take France 3 clear of Poland.

Robert Lewandowski was gifted a penalty by France that he failed to convert on the first try. The referee however adjudged Hugo Lloris to have made a foul stop and hence the penalty was taken again. A goal however could not shift the outcome of teh game as Poland had to crash out of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after losing 3-1 to France.

France meanwhile are just three wins away from defending theri World Cup title in Qatar. After the end of the game, Mbappe was adjudged the Player of the match for scoring two goals and assisting another.
