Costa Rica trumped Japan 1-0 in this Group E match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Sunday at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan on Sunday. The hero of the match for Costa Rica was Keysher Fuller Spence, who scored the all-important goal in the 81st minute of the game to get his side into a winning position. The goal from Fuller was a stunning left-footed effort.
It was a must-win game for Costa Rica, and they got the goal when they needed it most, in the dying moments of the game. When the teams were playing in the first half, none of the teams could get their shots on target. When it came to the second half, Japan were more attacking until Fuller scored for his side and won the game for Costa Rica.

In the first half, the action unfolded in the third minute, when Ayase Ueda combined with Japan’s Ritsu Doan to take a shot outside the box with his left foot, but it went to the left of the post. A free kick which was earned by Costa Rica’s Gerson Torres did not yield for Costa Rica.
In the 35th minute, A left-footed shot from outside the box which was played by Francisco Calvo missed to the right. Anthony Contreras’ assist also combined with Joel Campbell of Costa Rica for a shot which was played on the outside and went high and away from the right.
In just a matter of three minutes, Ritsu Doan who pushed the ball to Wataru Endo of Japan would have got a goal had his left-footed shot not been blocked. In the 41st minute, there were two yellow cards, one to Anthony Contreras of Costa Rica and the other to Miki Yamane from Japan. It is wonderful from Costa Rica as they bounced back after being beaten 7-0 by Spain in their earlier encounter.
