'No hope from your near & dear' - Sharma

“Life has been very tough so far. No hope from your near & dear. Hope Mata Rani bless me.....,” Chetan Sharma on his Twitter that caught the attention of netizens. In video footage released by Zee News, Sharma openly discussed the confidential selection matters and also claimed that some players used to take injections to make a return in the National squad.

After that, Kohli decided to step down from the Test captaincy after a series in South Africa in January 2022 and was succeded by Rohit Sharma in all three formats.

However, the team management denied all the allegations from Sharma and told the Board that it is impossible for players to trust him. However the Board maintained the silence over the matter.

After the video went viral, Sharma’s position as the chief selector had become untenable. However, he himself resigned from the post and his resignation was accepted by the Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah. The 57-year-old played 23 Tests and 65 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for India.
