Four Indian Cricketers who married their childhood friends

The idea of marrying your high school classmate or childhood sweetheart who put the first set of butterflies in your belly usually seems like some fairytale to many people. No matter how hard you try, love is not something that can be planned, it just happens. Only a few people have the 'distinction' of marrying their childhood sweetheart or classmate

Over the years many Crickets Legends have gone on to marry their childhood friend. They are some notable personalities in Indian Cricket and have achieved a lot.

Here are four Indian Cricketers who have done that.

1. Suresh Raina and Priyanka Raina

Former Indian international cricketer Suresh Raina is often regarded as one of the greatest fielders in the history of world cricket. The left-handed middle-order batsman announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on August 15, 2020. In terms of his personal life, Suresh Raina got married to his ladylove, Priyanka Chaudhary on April 3, 2015.

Suresh and Priyanka used to live in the same locality so they knew each other since childhood. However, they lost the touch when Priyanka’s family shifted to Punjab. But their families got together and arranged their marriage.

2. Sourav Ganguly and Dona Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly and his wife Dona Ganguly were neighbors during their childhood. The relationship between both families was not as good, however, that did not stop Ganguly and Dona from getting close to one another. It was this friendship between the two that eventually turned into love.

Sourav and Dona got married on February 21, 1997. The duo has been for years now and has a child, named Sana Ganguly. 

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Nupur

Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar tied the knot with his childhood friend Nupur on November 23, 2017. They both known each other since childhood as they lived in the same colony in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. They were just good friends but as they grew up, affection blossomed between them.

Bhuvneshwar did not reveal Nupur as his better half until some fans went about the rumor of him dating a South Indian movie industry actress. But he later uploaded a photo with Nupur to clear the air.

4. Ajinkya Rahane and Radhika Rahane

The love story of Ajinkya Rahane and Radhika Dhopavkar will remind you of the old school Bollywood films where childhood sweethearts would grow up to be a much-in-love couple. Growing up, Ajinkya and Radhika shared the same neighborhood.

Their families got a whiff of their liking towards each other which made them take the matter into their own hands. They asked them if they wanted to be together forever and when these love birds agreed, the families arranged for their wedding.
