Bangladesh's new pacer star Tanzim Hasan Sakib has been criticized. His misogynistic social media posts have created controversies in which the pacer condemned working women. He had a brilliant international debut against India in the just-concluded Asia Cup 2023.
The pacer picked up two wickets against India, which included the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma and youngster Tilak Varma. But his posts have backlashed on the internet from many women and they have urged the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to look into this matter.
If the wife works, the husband's rights are not ensured: Tanzim Shakib Hasan
One of the posts that Tanzim Hasan Sakib made last year on Facebook translates to, "If the wife works, the husband's rights are not ensured. If the wife works, the child's rights are not ensured. If the wife works, her elegance is damaged. If the wife works, the family is ruined. If the wife works, the veil is ruined. If the wife works, society is ruined."
Paris-based feminist writer Jannatun Nayeem Prity made a strong comment about the pacer stating, "I feel sorry for you that you don't consider your mother a normal human being." Swakrito Noman termed the comments as 'deeply offensive' in a Facebook post that criticized Tanzim. Speaking to AFP, BCB’s cricket operations chief Jalal Yunus said: "The issue came to our attention. We are looking into the matter."
In another post, he misled the males. He made them believe that they should avoid dating women who have many male friends at school or university. Many women on social media questioned such nasty posts. Especially in light of the fact that women make up a majority of the workforce in the factories. They make the jerseys for the Bangladesh squad. According to reports, the BCB is looking into the situation and will make a statement eventually.
Bangladesh did not have the greatest outing in the Asia Cup. In the group stage, they could only win against Afghanistan. In the Super 4s, the Bangla Tigers lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. But they finished their Asia Cup campaign with a 6-run win against India.
