Team Spirit becomes IEM Katowice 2024 champions, donk crowned MVP

Faze Clan loses their chance for vengeance as Team Spirit once again bests them in the IEM Katowice grand finals. The finale concluded with Team Spirit getting a 3-0 victory without even giving Faze a chance to bring the game to overtime.

Team Spirit is now also the first team to secure a spot in the BLAST Premier World Final. Along with that, they will also make an appearance in the Esports World Cup 2024 and IEM Cologne 2024 as direct invites.

Beating Faze on their maps

Map picks are the best way for a team to gain an advantage over their opponents. The opening map of Nuke was picked by Faze. Despite that, Team Spirit did not break a sweat while beating Faze and ending the match with a 13-9 score.

The second map was Mirage, picked by Team Spirit. While Faze did give them a hard time with a surprise comeback on the T side, Spirit managed to clutch the game one round before overtime.

With the second loss, it was do or die for Faze. The third map was also their pick Overpass. However, it did not stop Team Spirit from stomping on them with a 13-3 victory, ending the best-of-five series.

Match and tournament MVP

Danil “Donk” Kryshkovets, the young entry fragger for Spirit, was running amok all over the map with multiple kills in every round. His gameplay also earned him the MVP of the tournament with over 200 kills and the highest-ever rating of 1.70 in IEM Katowice.

This will be the second CS2 MVP for Donk after beating Virtus.pro at the BetBoom Dacha. The second-best player is another young prodigy from G2 “m0nesy” boasting a rating of 1.35. However, all records were broken by Donk this year.
