Kolkata Knight Riders finally registered their first win of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday, April 6 at the Eden Garden in Kolkata. After losing the first match against Punjab Kings, KKR thrashed RCB by 81 runs in their next.

Talking about the match, Bangalore's skipper Faf du Plessis opted to bowl first after winning the toss. And their bowlers started really well as they dismissed two batters inside the powerplay. The Knight Riders were losing back-to-back wickets but wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was keeping the other end safe.

At 89/5 in the 12th over, with Andre Russell gone for a golden duck, no one even imagined what they were about to witness next. Shardul Thakur's first ball went for four, thanks to a huge inside edge to deny a hat-trick for Karn Sharma. But the rest of his innings was anything but luck. He took the attack to the opposition with a fearless approach and helped KKR score 46 off the next 3 overs.

Having gained some much-needed momentum, the home team never looked back. Rinku was more than happy to play the second fiddle during the 103-run partnership, and only switched gears in the 19th over where he smoked Harshal for a couple of sixes and a four before getting out off the last ball.

Brilliant bowling performance by KKR

Chasing the target, RCB openers Virat Kohli and du Plessis started very well just like in the first match against Mumbai Indians. They were smoking every pacer out of the park. And then, Nitish Rana finally brought Sunil Narine into the attack and he didn't disappoint as he bowled Kohli in his very first over.

Varun Chakravarthy started bowling from the other end and broke the back of RCB's middle order. They couldn't make the comeback from there and bundled out on the score of just 123 runs. KKR spinners turned the game by taking wickets at regular intervals of time.
