Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered their 6th loss of the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, May 9. RCB, who were looking great in the initial stages of the tournament, are now struggling to qualify for the playoffs.
Meanwhile, RCB’s veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who was suffering from poor form in the league, finally produced a decent knock of 30 runs off 18 balls which included 4 fours and a six. However, Karthik wasn’t looking well while he was heading towards the pavilion after getting out and also didn't come to keep behind the wickets. Later, RCB’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar revealed after the match that Karthik was also vomiting.
"During the course of the innings, Dinesh Karthik started feeling unwell, he was a bit dehydrated and on his way back he also vomited. There is enough gap for us, maybe three-four days, so with medicine, I think he should be fine. He is an important member for us and he has a big role to play," Bangar was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times
You can perhaps try to relate it to the example of Rinku Singh: Sanjay Bangar
Meanwhile, Bangar also talked about the match in the post-match conference and said that their young batters are not batting at a good pace except Mahipal Lomror who has shown intent in almost every inning he played for RCB. He expressed his disappointment on Anuj Rawat and Shahbaz Ahmed who have failed to capitalise the opportunities they got in this season so far. He even gave an example of KKR's young sensation Rinku Singh who has already helped his team to win multiple matches in the season.
"Our young Indian batters are not progressing at a very good rate. Lomror has been someone who has taken his chances well. But somebody like Anuj Rawat or Shahbaz Ahmed, whenever they have got those opportunities, unfortunately, they have not been able to capitalize on it. You have to be patient with younger players and you can perhaps try to relate it to the example of Rinku Singh," Bangar added.
