The crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 1 at the Chepauk saw a unique visual for the dot balls bowled in the game. The Indian Cricket Board has promised to plant 500 trees for each dot ball bowled in the IPL 2023 playoffs. Hence the broadcasters have substituted a tree for the dot ball emblem.

The symbol of dot balls in the over's column at the bottom right of the screen was replaced with a distinctive graphic as viewers of the high-profile match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) puzzledly stared at the screen. According to information obtained, the small green tree that replaced the dot ball represents the Indian Cricket Board's attempt to plant 500 trees for each dot ball used in this year's tournament's final rounds.

Regarding the middle-order action, Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad's ninth 50+ run stand for the first wicket, the second-most for the franchise behind Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey's record of 13 opening partnerships above 50 runs, helped the Yellow Army get off to a strong start.

In their 87-run partnership for the first wicket, the young Indian opener was the more aggressive batsman, creating a solid foundation for the ensuing batters. Gaikwad (60 off 44) left after reaching his rapid half-century, while Shivam Dube (1 off 3) failed to contribute with the bat as CSK lost two wickets quickly. Quick contributions from Ajinkya Rahane (17 off 10), Ambati Rayudu (17 off 9) and Ravindra Jadeja (22 off 16) took the team total to a very competitive 172/7 in 20 overs.

For Gujarat Titans, the Indian pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma returned with two wickets each, recording 2/28 and 2/31 figures in their 4 overs. At the same time, Darshan Nalkande, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed returned with a wicket each to ensure all GT bowlers had successful outings. Gujarat Titans will now need to score 172 runs to book a berth in their second consecutive IPL final.
