It was good to see Sachin Tendulkar bat: Rishi Sunak

Sunak also recalled a moment when he came to India in 2008 to attend the wedding of one of his friends. Sunak said that when he was in India, the tragic 26/11 terrorist attack also took place after which England’s cricket team went back home because of the situation, however, they decided to come back and played a Test match in Chennai. Sunak said that he attended that match and the former legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was in great touch in that match but England lost the match, however, he expressed how good it was to see Tendulkar bat. Sunak also talked about what if he was as passionate as Indian fans.

“I was in India in 2008 when the terrorist attack happened. England's cricket team had gone away. I had gone to a friend’s wedding. But England decided to come back and play a Test in Chennai. I was there. Tendulkar scored massively in that run chase, sadly we lost and India won. It was good to see him bat,” the PM said.

“I can express it less in this job. Before I had this job, I would do that. I am a passionate sports fan. When England got the first wicket here (at Lord’s), I was standing up and realising ‘gosh’… and sat down,” he replied.
