The final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will now be played on May 29, which is the reserve day, after being postponed on Sunday due to heavy rain in Ahmedabad. Since the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) finished ahead of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the league phase, they will be named IPL champions for the second consecutive year if there is another wash-out on reserve day at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Meanwhile, thousands of spectators who came to the stadium to see their teams play were forced to leave without seeing a single delivery bowled. Later that evening, numerous images and videos from social media sites showed a number of CSK supporters sleeping at a nearby train station. Many fans have reacted to the images and videos on social media.

As the rain temporarily stopped, the officials hoped to schedule a short match. All those smiles quickly faded away as the situation started to become rather sorrowful, though, as fresh raindrops arrived and halted further movement. The officials kept an eye on the situation until 11:00 p.m. local time, but they eventually decided to call it a day because they had little chance of staging the game.

Can CSK win the championship for 5th time?

Talking about the match, both teams' opening batters are in excellent form. Ruturaj Gaikwad of CSK scored a half-century against GT in the first qualifier, and Shubman Gill of GT is the leading run-scorer this year with three centuries under his belt. It will be intriguing to watch which team's opening has a significant impact on the championship game.

Although CSK overcame GT in the first qualifier, Chennai's slow surface and the fact that CSK was playing at home helped them. Conditions will be uncomfortable no matter how many supporters don the yellow jersey on Monday in Ahmedabad in the hopes of seeing MS Dhoni win the trophy one more in what may be his final IPL game.
