According to various reports, the date for the India vs Pakistan clash could be changed, due to security reasons as it marks the beginning of the Navaratri festival in Gujarat. Given the magnitude to which Navaratri is celebrated in Ahmedabad and throughout Gujarat, security services are claimed to be concerned about logistical issues.

The Indian Cricket Board is reportedly looking to restructure the itinerary. Secretary Jay Shah has invited state associations hosting World Cup matches to a meeting in the national capital on July 27 to check out with the security issues for the Indo-Pak match in Ahmedabad and maybe arrange a new date.

The report states that agencies have advised the Indian Cricket Board to reschedule the game due to security concerns. It states, "We are mulling the options that we have and a decision will be taken soon. "We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri."

The letter said, "I feel it will be in the best interest of all concerned that we meet again to exchange notes and take stock of any issue which needs discussion and decision. Accordingly, you are hereby requested to attend a meeting of the World Cup hosting associations."

In case the Indian Cricket Board decides to adjust the schedule, supporters who did not waste time reserving their tickets and finalising their trip plans would face a big logistical issue. Making the most of the situation, hotels in Ahmedabad raised their rates to capitalise on the cricketing frenzy that will envelop the city on and around October 15.

However, if the date or location is altered, massive turmoil. if the match date is changed, there may be widespread cancellations of hotel and travel reservations.
