The ODI World Cup 2023 is just three days away. All the teams are gearing up for the mega event to start. Teams have already started their warm-up matches. Pakistan, who are currently in Hyderabad, have played one warm-up match so far against New Zealand. The Men in Green lost their opening match against the Kiwis.
Australia, who were in Kerala, have reached Hyderabad ahead of their second warm-up match against the Asian Giants. Aussie opener David Warner loves spending time in India, especially in Hyderabad, having a special connection with the city because of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Pat Cummins-led side will face Pakistan on October 3rd, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad to their first IPL win in 2016. For him, the city and its special dish are so close to his heart that he ordered biryani after landing in Hyderabad.
David Warner's record in India
Warner shared an Instagram story on Sunday captioning the post, "Back in Hyderabad and you bet I ordered it." He enjoys huge fanfare on Instagram and in India as well. Recently he has been in sensational form with the bat. In the recently concluded three-match ODI series against India, the southpaw scored three consecutive half-centuries against the Men in Blue. In 2023, he has amassed 390 runs in nine ODIs at an average of 43.33, including one ton and four half-centuries.
With the experience that the 36-year-old batter carries in playing in India, the Kangaroos will be hopeful that he uses his full skill and ability to give the Aussies their sixth trophy. He has played 150 ODIs, scoring 6397 runs at an average of 45.04, including 20 centuries and 31 fifties.
Warner enjoys a good record in India. He has scored 575 runs in 12 ODIs at an average of 52.27, including two centuries and four fifties. Overall, he has amassed 1174 runs in 25 ODIs against India, including three tons and nine half-centuries.
In IPL he has scored 6397 runs in 176 games, including four tons and 60 half-centuries. Australia will face hosts India on October 8 in Chennai.
