It seems like the Asia Cup 2023 dispute is not going to be over soon. It all started when India refused to go to Pakistan as the tournament was scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan initially. After this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also said that they won’t be travelling to India for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. Many fans are waiting to see another thrilling contest between the two nations but it is still unclear whether they will meet or not.

However, Pakistan later came up with a ‘Hybrid Model’ which looked good but now, it is reported that Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have rejected the model. And it seems like the Men in Green may pull out of the tournament as there are not so many options left for them.

The "Hybrid Model," put out by PCB president Najam Sethi, called for Pakistan to host 3 to 4 Asia Cup games while hosting the remaining contests involving India at a neutral site. The proposal was made after India decided to not tour Pakistan due to security reasons.

Pakistan to Boycott ODI Series in Sri Lanka

However, it is now obvious that Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan support the Indian Cricket Board's campaign to have the tournament moved out of Pakistan. Meanwhile, after the island nation offered to host all of the Asia Cup matches, Pakistan already rejected a proposal to play some ODI matches in Sri Lanka when it tours the nation for a two-Test series. According to the source, recent events may compel Pakistan to make a choice over sending its team to India for the World Cup.

''It is just a formality now that the Asian Cricket Council executive board members meet virtually or a proper meeting is called later this month. But the PCB is now aware that Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are not backing their hybrid model proposal for the Asia Cup,'' a source was quoted as saying by Devdiscourse.
