India’s star cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is currently out of the team India squad in all formats. Despite being out of favour, he has been performing well in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) and currently holding the orange cup for scoring the most runs this season so far.

Dhawan always gets criticised for his low strike rate in the shortest format, however, his knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, April 9 has silenced his critics. Punjab Kings (PBKS) made a total of 143 runs in three matches which Dhawan’s individual score was 99. Apart from him, only Sam Curran managed to make a double-digit score.

Dhawan talked about his knock in the post-match presentation and the representative asked him about his innings to which Dhawan first gave a savage statement that left everyone in splits, “I hope you were happy with my strike rate as you tweeted something. I can bowl googlies as well!”

That's a learning process for my batting unit and that's fine: Shikhar Dhawan

Meanwhile, talking about the match, with the help of Dhawan's blistering knock, PBKS managed to achieve a total of 143 runs. In response, SRH easily chased the target with Rahul Tripathi scoring 74 runs off just 48 deliveries. Dhawan talked about the match and said that they lost too many wickets due to which they failed to put up a big total. He also mentioned that weren't expecting that the wicket will produce seaming and swinging.

As a batting unit, we lost too many wickets back to back and couldn't put up a big total on the ground and because of that, we lost the game. 175-180 would have been a reasonable score. The wicket looked quite good but it was seaming and swinging. Of course it was disappointing (seeing wickets keep falling) but the way we thought the wicket was going to play, it was playing differently. It was seaming and sometimes keeping low. But that's a learning process for my batting unit and that's fine,” Dhawan said.
