As England batter Alex Hales has decided to retire from international cricket, a place in the English top order is vacant. The team is looking to find the best possible partner for skipper Jos Buttler. Meanwhile, England Test superstar Zak Crawley is also looking to make his way into the white-ball team. Crawley, who was the leading run-scorer for England in the recently concluded Ashes 2023, is looking to enrol himself in the Indian Premier League 2024 player auction.

Speaking about his future plans, Crawley revealed that he is willing to make his way into the white ball team and replicate his outstanding performances in the top order. Crawley is targeting a place on England's white-ball tour to the West Indies in December 2023. Crawley is hopeful for his place considering his performances in The Hundred and Big Bash League last year.

"I'd love to go on that tour," Crawley told ESPNcricinfo about the West Indies tour. "We'll have to see how selection goes, but the Caribbean is an awesome place to play, and I haven't had the chance to go on a white ball tour for England yet, so any opportunity I get would be awesome. If they want me for that tour, I'd absolutely love to go", he said.

But if I score runs...: Zak Crawley speaks about possibilities

Further, Crawley admitted that there are a few players who are ahead of him in the race, but if he performs constantly, he can bang the door. "There are obviously a few guys ahead of me at the moment. But if I score some runs, then hopefully my name starts getting thrown into the hat", Crawley said. He also spoke about considering participating in other leagues while England has no Test match in the next six months.

"I'm trying to look at where I can go, which leagues, before the tour of India. I went to the Big Bash last year and loved it, so if they wanted me back then, that would certainly be something I'd consider", says Crawley. It's worth noting that England will play their next Test match against India in January 2024. They will tour India for a five-match Test series starting on January 25 in Hyderabad.
