Before the opening Ashes 2023 match, which starts on June 16, England's batting phenom Harry Brook appears unconcerned about the Australian pace attack. Brook made his imprint in all three of the game's formats and was a member of the team that won the 20-20 World Cup, making it a tremendous year for him in international cricket.
The 24-year-old, who has benefited from the Bazball adage, made his biggest impact in Test cricket, though. Brook has participated in seven Test matches, scoring 818 runs with an average of 81.8 and a strike rate of 99.03.
The youthful hitter seems unconcerned by the thought of facing the Australian pace attack, which includes players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood when speaking before the first Test, as reported by Cricinfo. "Obviously they might have a little bit of extra pace, but if they bowl quicker it tends to go to the boundary quicker," said Brook.
"It's a dream come true to be involved in my first Ashes" – Harry Brook
Brook added that taking part in his first Ashes was a dream come true for him. The 24-year-old claimed that despite initially arriving to fill in for an ailing Jonny Bairstow, he now feels like a significant member of the England team.
"It's a dream come true to be involved in my first Ashes," said Brook. "Growing up I was watching some of these players who are still playing, against the best in the world and the best Australians. I'm looking forward to it."
"I feel like I'm more part of the team now. Obviously, as a deputy, you don't quite feel like you're meant to be there if you know what I mean. So, to have been contributing and gain a few match-winning performances this winter has meant the world and I feel a big part of the team now."
However, Harry Brook completely flopped for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the recently concluded IPL 2023. He just scored one hundred against Kolkata Knight Riders, remaining not out at 100. However, in the other ten games, he scored a cumulative 90 runs.
