India is currently playing Australia in a three-match ODI series. The hosts have already won the series by beating them in back-to-back ODIs. The Men in Blue have shown their dominant performance against the mighty Aussies. With Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin's comeback has been a massive boost for team India ahead of the World Cup 2023.

India rested skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya for the first two ODIs. KL Rahul, who made a great comeback in the Asia Cup, was captaining the side. Now, in the third and final ODI, all the players have returned to the squad, while Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur have been rested for this match.

The two-time World Champions eye for a historic feat in the last ODI, by white-washing the Kangaroos. Never in history have India whitewashed Australia in the ODI format. Neither of them has achieved such a result, home or away. Ahead of the World Cup team, India would like to achieve this feat.

India eye historic achievement against Australia

The two sides have met in 148 ODIs, Australia has the upper hand 82 and India has won 56. Though the Rohit Sharma-led side has shown dominant performances against them in recent years. With the absence of Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell Australia showed a decent fight in the two ODIs. In India both the teams are tied with 32 wins each and if India wins the last match they will be one ahead of them.

With the World Cup less than 10 days away the Asian champions have already secured the No.1 ODI spot and became the first nation to secure No.1 spot in all formats simultaneously. If they clinch the series by a 3-0 win, India would also have taken a massive boost over Australia before the two teams meet again in Chennai for their World Cup opener.

Both the teams would like to win their last match so that they finish with high morale ahead of the marquee event. With Kohli and Rohit coming back to the side India might have some changes before the last ODI
