In the second game of the ongoing five-match T20I series, India and Australia locked horns in Thiruvananthapuram. Ahead of the game, the home team was coming off a 1-0 lead as they won the first game by two wickets. On the other hand, the visitors needed to win to level the series. Meanwhile, in this game, the Yellow Brigade won the toss and bowled first.

However, they were hit for 77 runs and took one wicket in the powerplay as Yashasvi Jaiswal (53) ripped apart Aussie bowling. On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad till the last over of the innings scored his third fifty in 16 games. Apart from them, Ishan Kishan (52) started with run-a-ball innings but caught up when he got his eye in.

Rinku Singh (31*) scored a cameo in just nine balls and helped the team reach 235/4, their highest total against the Kangaroos in the shortest format of the game.

India thrash Australia despite the dew

During the most part of the game, dew had posed a challenge for the bowlers. After all, it was humid after heavy rain in the capital city of Kerala state. Meanwhile, chasing 236, the former T20 World Cup champions lost four wickets for 58 runs. At this point, it looked like the Asian side would win the game easily. However, the likes of Tim David and Marcus Stoinis put together 81 runs in just 6.1 overs. After this wicket, it was only a matter of time before the team lost the game massively.

In the end, the team ended with 191/9, losing the game by 44 runs. For the Indian team, Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi took three wickets each.
