Yuzvendra Chahal, the Indian leg-spinner, was not picked for the ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia, which started on November 23. The selectors have opted for the young Ravi Bishnoi, who impressed in the IPL 2023, as the lone specialist leggie in the squad.

Chahal, who has played 80 T20Is for India and taken 96 wickets is also the highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals. The leg-spinner has understandably been disappointed with the snub. He took to social media to express his feelings with some cryptic posts.

Yuzvendra Chahal sends a message to selectors with cryptic posts and a six-wicket haul!

On Wednesday, the Rajasthan Royals player posted a smiley emoticon on his Instagram story, which many interpreted as a sign of his frustration. On Friday, he followed it up with another post, which had a caption: “See you at work.” The post also had a photo of him and a quote: “To hold it together when everyone else thinks otherwise, that’s the true strength of a warrior.”

His wife, Dhanashree Verma, who is a choreographer and a social media influencer, reacted to his post with a fire emoticon, showing her support for her husband.

The Jind-born player also showed his class on the field, as he took a six-wicket haul in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Haryana against Uttarakhand on Thursday. He finished with figures of 6 for 32 in 10 overs, as he helped his team bowl out the opposition for 176. Haryana chased down the target with six wickets and 16.3 overs to spare, starting their campaign on a winning note.

Chahal’s performance was a reminder of his skills and experience, and he would hope that the selectors take notice of his form and attitude. He would also look to continue his good run in the domestic tournament and prove his worth to the national team.
