India are well placed at stumps on Day 2, with a score of 421 for the loss of seven wickets and a lead of 175 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel have batted hard to bring some stability to the Indian innings, with a partnership of 63 runs off 117 balls.

With three wickets in hand, India will look to cement their dominance in the match and build a consolidated lead of over 200–250 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are stitching up a partnership in a bid to help the Indian side post a big first-inning total and maximise the lead margin by as much as possible.

The earlier partnership between KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja helped India go past the 250-run mark in quick time while pushing England into the defence. Jadeja, in his inning, scored an unbeaten 81 runs off 155 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes. While Axar Patel remained unbeaten for 35 runs off 62 balls with the help of five fours and a six,

Gill and Iyer failed to convert good starts

Earlier, India had a great first session of the day, scoring 103 runs and losing two crucial wickets in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. Shreyas Iyer could not capitalize on the start he got and was eventually dismissed on a score of 35, trying to slog sweep a delivery from Rehan Ahmed only to hit it straight into the hands of Tom Hartley out in the deep.

While England took the early wickets, India still managed to score at almost 4 runs an over throughout the session, meaning there wasn't much pressure on the batsmen. In addition, a 63-run partnership between KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer saw India close in on England's 1st inning total by lunch. On day 3, India will be keen to strengthen the lead and close the game by the end of the day.
