England skipper Ben Stokes turned the wicket provider for England yet again. This time though it was the fielding of the English skipper that came to the fore. India had found Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill add 81 for the third wicket in 112 balls.

With the score reading 111/2, Shreyas Iyer decided to come down the track and take the aggressive route. Tom Hartley tossed the ball up as Iyer got the toe edge of the bat. Ben Stokes began running behind as he turned mid-run and then dove to take the catch.

The entire stadium was in shock as they rose to applaud a great catch. It was yet another cheap dismissal for Shreyas Iyer who was looking good for a big score. This is the second time in a week that Ben Stokes has done wonders on the field. Last week he ran out Ravindra Jadeja in Hyderabad while still laying down on the ground.

Shubman Gill’s fifty helps India extend their lead –

It was a great start to the day of the India vs England 2024 Vizag Test’s day three for Ben Stokes. The day began with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal falling to James Anderson to leave India at 30 for 2.

After surviving two close LBW shouts, Shubman Gill began to find his form. The youngster played some delightful shots and took the fight to England who were seen dominating. Shreyas Iyer scored 29 off 52 balls with two hits to the fence before a rush of blood cost him his wicket.

Rehan Ahmed then got the wicket of Rajat Patidar for 9 to condemn the youngster to his 2nd failure of the game. The 30-year-old got a thin edge to a ball keeping low as he went for a drive. That’s when Ben Foakes showed his skill to pouch a low and difficult catch.

During the 81-run stand between Iyer and Gill, the latter also reached his half-century. This was the first half-century for young Shubman Gill since his move to the number three spot. At the time of writing, Gill was batting on 55 runs off 68 balls with 8 fours and a six in his knock.
