Uncapped India player Sarfaraz Khan has been named as one of the replacements for injured players such as Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul ahead of the second Test against England.

Mumbai player Sarfaraz Khan has gotten his maiden India call-up ahead of the second Test against England. During the first Test last week, Ravindra Jadeja pulled his hamstring while taking a run and got run out in the process. On the other hand, KL Rahul is also ruled out from the Vizag Test due to right quadriceps pain. 

Apart from Khan, Washington Sundar and left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar have also been included in the team. Sundar has been named as the replacement in the India A by Saransh Jain for the third and final unofficial Test against the England Lions. On the other hand, Avesh Khan will continue to play for his state team, Madhya Pradesh and will join the national side if required.

"Mr. Ravindra Jadeja and Mr. KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag, starting February 02, 2024.

"Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during play on Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad while Rahul complained of right quadriceps pain.

"The Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo.

"The Men's Selection Committee have added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar to India's squad," the Indian Cricket Board said in a statement.

Talking about the series, England won the first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad at the end of Day Four on Sunday. The next Test will be played in Vizag from February 2.
