It hasn’t been a great start to the India vs England 2024 series for skipper Rohit Sharma. After failing to get going during the Hyderabad Test, the 36-year-old has scored just 27 runs in Visakhapatnam.

On Sunday, Rohit Sharma entered the field batting on 13 runs having seen out the final few overs of day two. James Anderson did immediate damage when he got the big wicket of the Indian skipper for 13.

England’s ace pacer got the wicket of Rohit Sharma as he played the wrong line. Just like Jasprit Bumrah on Saturday, Anderson also saw the stumps flying out of its base. The confidence of Rohit Sharma which was high not too long ago seems to have taken a beating.

England get two early wickets to dent India –

James Anderson gave his side the perfect start when he got Rohit Sharma for 13. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the next wicket to fall as the youngster was snapped by Joe Root. This gave Anderson his second wicket of the innings and his 695th Test wicket.

Shubman Gill who is under pressure to perform survived twice in a space of four balls. Tom Hartley got the ball to straighten a bit and the umpire gave it out. After a few seconds of deliberation, Gill went up to seek the help of DRS.

It was seen that the ball had taken a little inside edge with the bat closer to the pads. The very next over Anderson had Gill playing across the line. There was a huge appeal as Stokes sent it up for DRS after the umpire gave it not out. For the second time Gill to a reprieve when the 3rd umpire stayed with the on-field call.

With eight sessions left in the Test match, India will look to build a huge lead. At the time of writing, the home side was leading by 191 runs. Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill had got things under control as Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir were pressed into action.
