Ravichandran Ashwin flies back home due to family emergency amidst 3rd Test against England

India have suffered another blow during the 3rd Test against England. Ravichandran Ashwin, who has been the star for the home side have flown back home due to a family emergency. The veteran spinner on Friday picked up his 500th Test wicket, he achieved the milestone after picking the wicket of opener Zak Crawley. Ashwin was just one wicket away from becoming the third off-spinner to achieve the milestone and the second fastest to achieve the record after great Muthiah Muralidharan. 

Previously the Men in Blue lost the service of former India captain Virat Kohli who initially missed the first two games but has also withdrawn from the remaining three as well. The loss of Kohli was a big miss for the side with the experience and energy he brings in the side. Now the miss of the 37-year-old bowling all-rounder will also be a headache for Rohit Sharma as he has been a key spinner for the side. 

The Indian Cricket Board has not questioned his decision and has also not gone into the depth of the matter. The board asked the fans and media to respect the Indian star’s privacy while adding that the Indian Cricket Board offers its full support to Ashwin in this time of need. 

Wishing speedy recovery of mother: Rajiv Shukla

The Board's vice-president Rajiv Shukla revealed that Ashwin’s family medical emergency forced him to withdraw. He stated on Twitter, "Wishing speedy recovery of mother of @ashwinravi99. He has to rush and leave Rajkot Test to Chennai to be with his mother." His mother's role of helping his son becoming a successful cricketer has been instrumental. 

Ashwin's father had once told OneIndia News "I had to note down our son's performance in every match from his childhood. Even, I used to note Ashwin's batting and bowling performance at the nets also. I had written the comments of his coach after every day of training. The reason was that his mother used to watch my notes and then start advising her son."
