The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024  mini-auction has ended grandly with some of the famous players getting stolen and big buys from the franchise and some uncapped players got some big buys from the team. This year's auction saw bids going over 20 crore INR. Around 72 players were sold at 230.45 crores INR at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. The IPL 2024 auction broke many records in terms of money spent to bag star players.

This was the first instance that the auction was held outside the country. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) got some steal deals and picked some big names in small amounts making their side the most formidable one. In the article, we will be looking for the most expensive players that were sold in the IPL 2024 mini-auction.

5. Alzarri Joseph (11.50 crore INR) 

Alzarri Joesph the big Carribean man has been picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with a hefty price of 11.50 crore INR. Joseph has experience of playing in the IPL before with a couple of franchises and has performed decently in the tournament. He has taken 20 wickets in 19 games in the league at an economy rate of 9.19. But he has been a wicket-taker in the middle overs. He has a good T20I record as well for the West Indies. 

4. Harshal Patel (11.75 crore INR) 

Harshal Patel was the fourth one on the list. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) showed their faith in the medium pacer by paying Rs 11.75 crore for the Haryana player. He was previously with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) but they had released him. With a range of variations that could come in helpful in Mohali's big boundaries, Harshal Patel was the purple cap holder in the 2021 Indian Premier League. His dipping slower yorker has been deceptive to the batters. 

3. Daryl Mitchell (14 crore INR) 

Daryl Mitchell has been in exceptional form in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 and he has a good record in the T20 record as well. The Kiwi batter had shown the ability in the No. 4 order. He has a good strike rate in the shortest format of the game. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) showed faith in him and bought him for a big amount of 14 crore INR he might play the similar role that Ambati Rayudu used to play for the franchise but what adds extra is that he can give two overs of bowling as well. 

2. Pat Cummins (20.50 crore INR)

Pat Cummins the Australia World Cup winning captain Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) roped in the star all-rounder making him the second-most expensive player in IPL history. Cummins backed out from the IPL last season to focus on his international cricket and that turned out to be one of the dream seasons as he won the World Test Championship (WTC) and World Cup as well. 

1. Mitchell Starc (24.75 crore INR)  

Mitchell Starc had a dream comeback to the IPL after 8 years. The Australian speedster played back in 2015 and then was roped by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2018 but he missed out due to injury. Eventually, he will be returning for the purple and gold side for the 2024 season of the auction as after an immense bidding war between Gujarat Titans (GT) and KKR, he was roped by the latter for a huge deal of 24.75 crore INR and it turned out to be the most expensive player in the history of the IPL auction.
