Royal Challengers Bangalore is likely to trade off Shahbaz Ahmed with Mayank Dagar of Sunrisers Hyderabad. The reports claim that the deal with the two South Indian franchises is almost confirmed and is about to be announced soon. If what reports suggest are to be believed, it might be a negative move from RCB, as Shahbaz has made it to the Indian team already, unlike Dagar who has not made a big mark yet. 

Shahbaz has been a consistent performer at the domestic level over the years. Ahmed was set to prove himself for RCB. In 2022, Shahbaz had his best season with RCB in IPL, as he won a lot of games for the three-time finalists with his useful performances. As an all-rounder, he was one of the best players available at the domestic level. The Royal Challengers invested in Shahbaz and seems like did not back him enough.

As a batter, Shahbaz can be used in different positions. If necessary, the left-hander can anchor the innings batting at number 3. Even as an opener, the Bengal can come off well with some mighty blows. As a finisher, Ahmed can provide stability. The Southpaw can play different kinds of roles as a finisher. the Bengal cricketer can save the team from collapses and provide impetus with the bat as well.

The trade between the two teams is likely to be announced soon. While Mayank Dagar is a good option for RCB, the Bengaluru-based franchise could have gone for better players in exchange for Ahmed. All the teams are expected to announce their retentions and trades for the IPL 2024 season before 4 PM on the 26th of November. There might be some big announcements from some of the franchises, particularly from MI, who have reportedly got Hardik Pandya in exchange for INR 15 crores. Many such trades are expected to be announced on Sunday, as fans eagerly await for it.
