CSK drops intruiging comment about Rohit Sharma

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a brilliant Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction as they got some steal deals. They acquired the services of Rachin Ravindra for 1.80 crore INR. They also bought back their star all-rounder Shardul Thakur at a cheaper price of 4 crore INR. CSK spent big money on Daryl Mitchell as they bought the New Zealand batter for 14 crore INR. The Men in Yellow had some other good buys as well, spending their money wisely.

After the removal of Rohit Sharma from the captaincy role of Mumbai Indians (MI) and Hardik Pandya was named as the new leader for the side, there have been speculations that he might be traded to CSK as the batter's availability was asked by the franchise along with Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah's names were also linked with a trade to another franchise.

During a chat with Cricbuzz, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that it is against CSK's 'principles' to trade a player. He also believes that there's any player that his franchise can trade with Mumbai at present. Once they traded Ravindra Jadeja from Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the player faced a ban for a year.

We don't trade players as a principle: Kasi Viswanathan

CEO Kasi Viswanathan said, "We don't trade players as a principle and we also don't have players to trade with Mumbai Indians. We have not approached them and we don't intend to either. Having Ro (Rohit Sharma) in the team, on and off the field to guide the next generation is very important for us. He has been absolutely brilliant. I have worked very closely with Ro. He is a fabulous individual and I am sure he will be part of the legacy who will guide that through."

"Mumbai have had that in the past too with Sachin (Tendulkar), who played with the youngsters. He gave the leadership to someone else and made sure Mumbai Indians were going in the right direction. It's the same thing. We had this conversation and everyone is buying into that, so, it's for us to look forward to the next season."
