IPL Auction 2024 Retained & Released Players List, Remaining Purse for CSK

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been one of the most successful and consistent teams in the IPL. That is why they are the joint-most successful side of the tournament winning it 5 times. MS Dhoni has shown that a team with average looks on paper can win the tournament. Ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction on December 19 in Dubai, the team announced their list of retentions and released players on Sunday, November 26. They released 8 players from their squad.  

The Yellow Brigade has also finished runners-up five times in 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2019. CSK has made the playoffs in every season in which they have played. They have released some big names ahead of the min-auction and would love to add some big names to their squad in order to boost the side. The title holders released Ben Stokes who could not play in the majority of the previous edition due to injury. 

There have been speculations about whether Dhoni will play in the IPL 2024 or not. But after the final of the previous edition, he said he wanted to continue for another season. He is currently recovering from his knee surgery and was seen limping while coming down from stairs. The purse they have ahead of the auction is INR 32.10 Crore, with so much money left they would love to add some big names.
