IPL Auction 2024 Retained & Released Players List, Remaining Purse for MI

Mumbai Indians (MI) is one of the most successful Indian Premier League (IPL) sides. The franchise has won five IPL trophies so far. The team announced their list of retentions and released players on Sunday, November 26 ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction on December 19 in Dubai. They released 11 players from their squad.  

In the 2023 season, they finished fourth on the points table, having won eight of the 14 matches and totaling 16 points.They advanced to the second qualifier but were defeated by Gujarat Titans. Hardik Pandya has been added to the squad as the team has released Australian all-rounder Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Hardik began his IPL career with the MI as an uncapped player in 2015, as he was roped in for just INR 10 lakhs. He crucial member of Mumbai’s IPL victories in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. 

In mid-November officially appointed former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga as their bowling coach. Malinga, who once played for the five-time champions in his prime, will join the coaching team led by Mark Boucher and his former teammate Kieron Pollard ahead of the upcoming season. The team on paper looks brilliant and still has INR 32.75 Crore left in their purse they would surely like to win the trophy for the sixth time.
