IPL is a celebration of cricket that happens every year in India and some of the best cricketing talents from around the globe take part in and display their skills. The concept of league cricket has gained massive popularity over the years and the IPL has played a massive role in doing that to an extent it has asserted its dominance over international cricket as most of the world cricket gets shut for the two months of the IPL.

India is considered to be a hub of batting talent and over the years has produced some exciting batting talent when you club it with some of the best batters from around the world, it creates an amazing spectacle for the viewers.

IPL Orange Cap was first introduced in the 2nd season of the Indian Premier League in 2009. Since then every year some top batters fight it out for the prestigious Orange Cap in the IPL which is given to the highest run-scorer of that edition.

This year also we have batters with amazing batting talent fight it out for it, let’s explore find who are the top five IPL Orange Cap probables:

1)      Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has become a synonym for RCB in the IPL and is one of the IPL greats. Virat has featured in the IPL since 2008 and till date he has amassed 7,263 runs in the IPL is 237 matches. In the 2023 edition of the IPL, he scored 639 runs in the edition and was the second-highest run-scorer in the edition.

He hasn't played T20s since 2022, so he's extra motivated to prove himself before the big T20 World Cup later this year and with his ability of guiding the ball to exactly where it needs to Virat Kohli would be a force to reckon with in this year's IPL.

2)      Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill serves as the opening batsman for the Gujarat Titans. He clinched the Orange Cap during the 2023 IPL season, amassing 890 runs in 17 matches at an impressive average of 59.33. Throughout the season, Gill notched up three centuries and four half-centuries.

He is considered to be Virat Kohli's successor in India and is given the title of 'Prince' by his fans. Gill's mesmering class and shot-making along with consistency is something that makes him a future star in the making and will be among the top contenders to win the Orange Cap in 2024.

3)      David Warner

David Warner is also another IPL great who has been an integral feature in the coveted league. The Australian southpaw has 6.,397 runs under his belly in 176 IPL matches at a staggering average of almost 140.

David Warner scored 516 runs in the last season of the IPL and this year also he is expected to have another fantastic IPL given his current good form in the recently concluded ODI World Cup.

Also, Delhi Capitals have some explosive batters in their top order in the form of Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh that allows Warner to take his time before unleashing himself on the bowlers.  

4)      Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis is one of the most underrated players in IPL history. The RCB captain has 4,133 runs in his IPL career of 130 matches. Faf du Plessis was the second-highest scorer of IPL 2023 as he churned out 730 runs in 14 matches of the 2023 season of the IPL.

After his retirement, he has unleashed a different side of himself and has taken the opening position of RCB like fish to water and has been performing very well with the bat on the batting paradise of Bangalore. Faf along with Virat Kohli make a great pair and is expected to unleash once again in IPL 2024.

5)      Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad has emerged as the backbone of CSK's batting lineup in the last two years  Gaikwad's graceful batting style and the mature way he anchors the innings, despite his youth, make him a player worth keeping an eye on in the upcoming IPL 2024.
