The Ashes 2023 has been an interesting series. Even though Australia has been ahead in the series by 2-1, England have kept themselves in the game in the first two games. However, in the recently concluded third Test, the Three Lions managed to win and keep the series alive. Between the third and fourth games, there is a long gap (10 days to be exact).

During this, the Prime Ministers of England and Australia got involved in banter. In a video uploaded by the latter, he started by reminding Rishi Sunak, the England PM, that Australia is leading the series by 2-1. In reply, Sunak reminded Albanese that his national side has momentum. After this, the Australia PM reminded Sunak about Jonny Bairstow's stumping. In the end, Sunak said that he forgot to bring the sandpaper.

In the second Test played at Lords, England wicketkeeper batter, Jonny Bairstow got stumped in an unusual way. Apparently, the right-hander was going out of the crease thinking the ball was dead. However, Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey under-armed the ball towards the stumps.

The England fans got riled up and started booing the Aussie players. Even some of the MCC members also found trying to bully Usman Khawaja which is why they have been suspended. After the game, England skipper Ben Stokes made a point that he would want his team to win this game like this. Sunak agrees with the comments.

“The prime minister agrees with (England captain) Ben Stokes who said he simply wouldn’t want to win a game in the manner that Australia did,” the spokesman said.

On the other hand, Anthony Albanese stood up for his national players.

"I’m proud of our men’s and women’s cricket teams, who have both won their opening two #Ashes matches against England. Same old Aussies – always winning! Australia is right behind Alyssa Healy and Pat Cummins and their teams and look forward to welcoming them home victorious," Albanese tweeted.
