The Indian Cricket team is all set to get back in action for the upcoming West Indies tour. The series will consist of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20I matches, which will start on July 12. The squad for the Test and ODI series is already announced by the Indian Cricket Board and many new and young faces have been included in the series.

Meanwhile, India’s middle-order batter Sanju Samson, who has got another opportunity as he has been named for the ODI squad against the Windies, has shared a picture with his father and brother on social media. Looking at the picture, it is believed that they have a great football session together. Many fans have reacted to the picture, however, some of the fans were confused between Samson and his brother as they look almost the same.

I want Sanju Samson to be in the XI: Sanju Samson

Meanwhile, former Indian selector Saba Karim believes that Samson must maintain consistency in his batting performances to be able to secure his spot on the national squad. He mentioned how the captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) struggled during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 this season. In contrast to Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma, among others, delivered consistently for their respective organisations this season, according to Karim.

"Since you don't have players currently, I want Sanju Samson to be in the XI. He should play and perform regularly so that he challenges the players currently in the team. Samson, unfortunately, has not been able to do that. If you see in the IPL as well, he performed sporadically. I want to see the same regularity in Sanju Samson's batting that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma have shown this year. This is still missing," Karim was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.

The upcoming ODI series against West Indies will be very crucial for Samson as it can cement his spot in the team. After the series, he can also be considered by the selectors for the upcoming ODI World Cup. India’s regular wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is still recovering from the injuries, so Samson might be considered as the 1st or 2nd choice for the wicketkeeping role.
